WHAT IS AMERICORPS?

AmeriCorps is a federally-funded program designed to encourage and support volunteerism in communities. It is the national service movement that engages thousands of Americans 17 years and older, and of all backgrounds in a domestic peace corps.

This service organization believes in getting things done by meeting educational needs, public safety needs, environmental and other human needs.

Guam has three AmeriCorps Programs:

"THE AMERICORPS ALUMS PLEDGE"
I am an AmeriCorps member and I make a difference in my community.
I believe that AmeriCorps is one year in a lifetime of service.
I pledge to continue to serve in all aspects of my life.
I took action, and will continue to serve.
I sought common ground, and will build community throughout my life.
I persevered, and will live each day with conviction.
I will lead by example.
I will engage other people as we make our world a better place.
I join the AmeriCorps Alums before me and we harness our energy to inspire those yet to come.
Together, we will continue to get things done!

"THE AMERICORPS PLEDGE"
I will get things done for America - to make our people safer, smarter, healthier.
I will bring Americans together to strengthen our communities.
Faced with apathy, I will take action.
Faced with conflict,I will seek common ground.
Faced with adversity, I will persevere.
I will carry this commitment with me this year & beyond.
I am an AmeriCorps member, and I will get things done.
