Established in 1952 as the Territorial College of Guam, the institution was renamed the University of Guam in 1968. In 2012, we celebrate our 44th Charter Day and our 60th year as an institution of higher education.

  • 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., HSS Bldg classrooms. Spelling, storytelling, oratorical and poetry citations.

All events and activities are free except for carnival games, food vendors, and other vendor booths selling products.
 

College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences 33rd Annual Research Conference

Humanities & Social Sciences Building and English & Communications Building:

10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. There will be a hosted closing ceremony in the Lecture Hall at 4:00 p.m.

 

Annual CHamoru Language Competition:
  • Theme:  Setbe, Satba yan Sostieni (Serve, Save, and Hold on to).
  • Announcment of Winners at the UOG Field House.
  • 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at the UOG Field House. Choirs, oratorical reading and chants, singing, song with dance, dramatic cultural interpretation.

 

Society of Emeritus Professors and Retired Scholars:
The group will host their annual meeting from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Emeritus conference room. 
 
 
Center Courtyard Activities
 
Opening Ceremonies: 9:00 a.m. -  UOG Campus Center Court
 
Army ROTC: Demonstration; ROTC will also host a dunk booth, paintball marksmanship, face painting and Recruiting.
 
Student Government Association activities: Center stage - Dance performances, Live Music, Games, Climbing Wall, Obstacle Course, Carnival Games and Food Vendors.
 
Campus Tour
 
ISLA Center for the Arts:
ISLA will provide guided tours from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. on Charter Day. Our exhibit will be the Isla Art-a-thon Exhibition and the gallery will be open 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
 
RFK Library:
RFK Library student tours are available from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. only with an adult chaperone. Book Sale 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Library Hours will be from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Charter Day.
 

Marine Laboratory:

Classroom Exhibits, Tour of the Marine Lab, a touch-tank featuring Guam's sea creatures, and a display of preserved marine specimens from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
 
Bookstore:
Located in the Student Center Rotunda from 8:00 a.m – 12:00 p.m. Textbook Sale on Selected Items- $5.00 -$10.00
 
Water & Environmental Research Institute of the Western Pacific (WERI):
A presentation, "Guam's Water Resources" and display. - Charter day Center Court from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
 
Campus Activities
College of Natural & Applied Sciences: The following activities will be held from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. in the courtyard of the Applied & Life Sciences Bldg.
 
Activities: Rainfall Simulator, Plant Sale, Insect Trap Display, Animal and Aquarium Display, Food Sampling, Recipe Book Giveaway, Obstacle Course, Interactive Insect Display, Interactive Microscope Display, Coconut Rhino Beetle Display, Ironwood Display and games.
 
Sea Grant will showcase the Charting the Marianas Islands activity from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Participants will have an opportunity to learn more about the Marianas Archipelago and chart them on a bulletin board using latitude and longitudinal coordinates for each island.
 
Other displays: U.S. Coast Guard, Fisherman’s Co-op and Rasan Acho Latte will also be presenting displays.

NOTE: The Planetarium has a FIRE REGULATION limit of 75 people; seating will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. (No Reservations).

Micronesian Area Research Center (MARC):
  • Dig it - find hidden treasures and experience what it is like to be an archaeologist with our simulated archaeology dig.
  • Learn about the summer field school archaeology project at Ritidian.
  • Demonstrations on how to weave grass skirts, mwarmwars, talaya nets, and more. Listen to the stories of Micronesia and experience a Chamorro massage!
