The Computer Center is an all-purpose facility designed to meet the requirements the academic and ../administrative users of the University. The Center provides and supports a wide variety of academic, instructional, research-related, and ../administrative services. Consistent with the regional role of the University, the Center also provides technical support and services to the community.

Using a fiber optic and wireless data communication network, users have direct/interactive access to the central computer for program debugging, testing and other uses. In addition, the Center has an on-line/database management information system, which is able to link with other on-/off-island systems.

A computer lab equipped with a network of mainframe, microcomputers, terminals, graphics devices & multi-media systems, software - including statistical analysis packages and compilers, and Internet access is available for student and faculty use.

Additional computer labs are maintained on campus for the use of the faculty and students of the respective units. The School of Business and Public Administration (SBPA) lab provides access to the Computer Center mainframe via remote work stations as well as self-contained microcomputer facilities. The CNAS‘s Computer science lab is located in the Health Sciences building. In addition, the Division of English and Applied Linguistics maintains laboratories containing microcomputers with word-processing and instructional software. The Division of Humanistic Studies maintains the Digital Language Laboratory for Modern Language instruction. The School of Education (SOE), CNAS, the School of Nursing and Health Sciences (SNHS), the research and other service units also have computer labs equipped with microcomputers with access to the applications on the Computer Center's network.
