The Soroptomist Women's Opportunity Awards Program
Since 1972, Soroptimist has been helping women the world over reclaim their dreams through the Women’s Opportunity Awards program.This program provides cash grants to women who are working to better their lives through additional skills training and education.
 
You are eligible to apply if you are:
- A woman with primary financial responsibility for yourself and your dependants

- Attending an undergraduate degree program or a vocational skills training program

- Have financial need
 
 
The Herminia Dierking Scholarship is Now Available!
DEADLINE: January 31, 2012

The Association of Government Accountants (AGA) Guam Chapter is pleased to offer the Herminia Dierking Scholarship. The scholarship is sponsored and funded jointly by the chapter and private sector contributors in recognition of the achievements of the late Herminia H. Dierking, a Legislator, Educator, Humanitarian, Past President of AGA Guam Chapter, Past Regional Vice President of AGA Pacific Rim and a past recipient of the AGA National Chapter Service Award.

The scholarship provides a total of $6,000 in scholarship funds to four (4) undergraduate students ($1,500 for each recipient, two recipients for Spring 2012 and two recipients for Fall 2012 semesters) at the University of Guam (UOG) who exhibits academic excellence in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance and Economics or Public Administration disciplines.

Scholarship applicants must complete the Scholarship Application Form with the UOG Financial Aid Office located at the Field House to include all supporting documents for eligibility on or before January 31, 2012 for Spring and Fall 2012. Evidence shall include:
  • Compliance with the Eligiblity Criteria (found on the application form).
  • Copy of Official Transcript.
  • Pre-registration form or schedule of classes recommended by student's advisor.

Society of American Military Engineers Guam Post
Application Deadline: December 16, 2011 by 5:00 p.m.

 
The Guam Post of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) is currently accepting applications for its 2011/2012 Mid‐Year Charlie Corn Scholarship. Enclosed is a copy of the application form and a background sheet describing the scholarship and its eligibility and application requirements.

 

As described in the background sheet, the Charlie Corn Scholarship is to assist in the development of engineering and architectural talent in Guam and Micronesia. Refer to the scholarship application to confirm eligibility requirements. After graduation, applicants must be planning on returning to Guam or Micronesia to begin their professional career.

 

Please make copies of the application and background sheet available to all interested students who wish to obtain an undergraduate degree in engineering or architecture. The Soroptomist International of the Marianas
The Soroptomist International of the Marianas (SIM) is sponsoring a scholarship for University of Guam students.  This scholarship is open to all undergraduates who are permanent residents of Guam and are entering or are enrolled at UOG, from freshman through senior levels. 
To maintain eligibility for the scholarship, recipient must be a full-time student, maintaining academic progress toward a degree, with a GPA of 3.0. 
Student must show evidence of financial need. This is to be determined by the Financial Aid Office of the University of Guam. The Financial Aid Office will make an analysis of the family’s financial strength. Applicants must submit a financial aid form (FAFSA) to the Financial Aid Office.
 
Parsons Scholarship
For University of Guam Pre-engineering Students
Deadline to Apply Oct. 14, 2011

University of Guam pre-engineering students who have completed ES201 Engineering Statistics or who are enrolled in the course for the fall 2011 semester are encouraged to apply for a Parsons scholarship.

Parsons, a construction and engineering firm, generously contributed $15,000 in scholarship funds to support pre-engineering students at the University of Guam. There are several Parsons Scholarships available for the fall 2011 semester worth up to $3,750 each. The scholarships will be awarded in October based on academic performance and financial need. Scholarship amounts will vary depending on a student’s financial need.

To apply for the Parsons Scholarship you must be a resident of Guam or the region and submit the following documents:

1.       Application form

2.       A one-page personal statement about yourself and your academic goals. In the statement explain why you are pursuing a degree in engineering.

3.       A copy of your official transcripts

All documents must be submitted to the Financial Aid Office located in the UOG Field House by 5:00 p.m. on October 14, 2011.

 
Association of Government Accountants 2012 Scholarship
Deadline: Friday, March 30, 2012
 

The Association of Government Accountants (AGA) is pleased to offer:

 

Up to four $3,000 academic scholarships for full-time study

·         Must be an AGA member or family member (spouse, child or grandchild) and

·         Scholarship must be applied toward full-time undergraduate/graduate study in a financial management academic discipline*

 

One $1,000 academic scholarships for part-time study

·         Must be an AGA member or family member (spouse, child or grandchild) and

·         Scholarship must be applied toward part-time undergraduate/graduate study in a financial management academic discipline*

 

One $3,000 scholarship for Community Service accomplishments

·         Awarded to AGA members and non-members

·         Must be pursuing a degree in a financial management academic discipline*

·         Must be actively involved in community service projects

 

*This includes disciplines such as accounting, auditing, budgeting, economics, finance, electronic data processing, information resources management, and public administration.

 

The Academic Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of the candidate’s potential for making a meaningful contribution to public financial management. Academic achievement prior to application is an indication of potential for successful study, but is not the only criteria that will be considered in awarding these scholarships.  The Community Service Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of community service involvement and accomplishments.  Candidate must have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
 
 
 
Businesswoman of the Year Scholarship Program
Applications for the The Businesswoman of the Year Scholarship Program is now available.  The scholarship will  be awarded to a deserving full-time or part-time University of Guam (UOG), Guam Community College (GCC) and Northern Marianas College (NMC) students for each semester that they are registered in and applied for the scholarship. Graduating seniors from Guam’s and the NMI’s high schools, enrolling at one of the three tertiary institutions, may also apply.  The scholarships will be awarded based on merit, eligibility, the written essay, and financial need.  The scholarship is sponsored by the First Hawaiian Bank and Guam Business News.
