UOG Adventuture/Sports Camp
WHAT SETS THE UOG ADVENTURE/SPORTS CAMP FROM THE REST?
The University of Guam Adventure/Sports Camp promotes high quality educational, recreational, and atheltic experiences to all its campers. The daily use of the UOG Field House, a state-of-the-art mutli-purpose facitly, distinguishes the camp from others in that campers are afforded access to various sports courts, playing fields and a myriad of other campus resources. Campers will engage in skill development in various sports, particpate in recreational games, and be exposed to educatonal programs the community has to offer.
The goal of the camp is to teach each camper the importance of developing lifetime health, fitness and recreational skills conducive to overall quality of life. A majority of the camp counselors are DOE certified educators, many of them specialized in the field of Physical Education and Health. The camp is open to children ages 5 to 15. Special attention is paid to age, maturity, and skill level of each campers.
HISTORY OF CAMP
Thirteen years ago UOG Adventure Sports Camp was founded by three ambitious people, Bob Pelkey, Tony Thompson, & James Alger. Their love for sports and the outdoors enticed them to develop a camp that would provide children the opportuity to experience Guam's beauty, and discover an intrinsic love for sports. In 1995 composed of only five staff & fifty campes the Adventure/Sports Camp managed to surpass any challenges that they faced and remained determined to improve through out the years. Today, continuing the ambition our three founders began with UOG Adventure/Sports Camp we will continue to provide an adventure.. an education...and lots of fun!!!
Camp ABC's (ages 5-6)
Sports and recreational activities are geared toward gross motor learning as well as the importance of rules and following them. Guest lectures, educational classes such as health education, arts and crafts, field trips, and new games are just a few the things your child should look forward to.
Camp Discover's (ages 7-8)
This camp is designed to utilize the creative energy the child possesses to enhance competency level in individual and team sports. Establishing protocols by instructors will be a part of the program to make children aware of rules and regulations in orgranized games. Guest lectures, educational classes and videos, field trips, new games, campus exploration, arts and crafts, and hikes are justa f ew of the activities that are involved in this camp.
Camp Explorers (ages 9-11)
Actities are geared toward understanding rules and regulations of sports, fair play, and the importance of cooperation and teamwork toward a common goal. Campers in this age group will engage in hikes to foster an appreciation of lifetime leisure activities involving natural surroundings. New games, health education, water saftey and swimming lessons, field trips, campus exploration, sports and games, guest lectures, as well as overnight camping.
Camp Extreme (ages 12-15)
Time is spent on reviewing and praticing basic skills, teamwork, and decision-making experiences relating to cooperative efforts through activity. A variety of sports and activities will be covered ranging from adventure games to classroom learning regarding personal heath behavior. Cameprs will be challenged to engage in many hikes as well as overnight camping.
