Location: The Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) consists of the northern 14 islands of the Mariana archipelago (i.e., all those north of Guam). The three southern islands of Rota, Tinian and Saipan are the most heavily populated, the latter of which is the seat of the local government and where the Division of Fish and Wildlife (DFW) is located. The base location for this position will be Saipan. Term: This is a one year term appointment renewable upon mutual consent. Description: Under the direct supervision and direction of the Division Director, the Fisheries Research Section (FRS) Supervisors in this class are expected to exercise sound judgment and actions in accordance with established policies, practices, and procedures. The position requires responsible professional scientific work involved in the participation of planning, executing, and reporting of fishery management, research, and development projects under the Dingell-Johnson Sportfish Restoration Act (DJ), as well as other Federal and local grants. Work is reviewed by the Division Director prior to submission of reports, inspections and conferences. Extension Climatologist Location: The Division of Illinois State Water Survey within the Institute of Natural Resource Sustainability at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Full-time Description: The primary functions of this position will be to foster relationships with users of climate data and information in the Midwest regarding agriculture, Great Lakes coastal issues, and other climate-sensitive issues and help stakeholders improve their decision-making processes with Regional Climate Center (MRCC) and Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant (IISG).The program prepares undergraduate students for graduate school and careers in marine science, policy, management, and outreach. This ten week program places high caliber junior and senior undergraduate students from around the country with federal, state, and local public agencies to provide students with hands-on experience under the mentorship of a career professional.
Oregon Sea Grant Summer Scholars Program for Undergraduates Location: Oregon Description: The program prepares undergraduate students for graduate schools and careers in marine science, policy, management, and outreach. This ten week program places high caliber junior and senior undergraduate students from around the country with federal, state, and local public agencies to provide students with hands-on experience under the mentorship of a career professional. Goal: The goal of this program is to provide students with professional skills, agency workplace experience and real life practices in marine resource science, policy, management, and outreach and support agency programs and initiatives.The program prepares undergraduate students for graduate school and careers in marine science, policy, management, and outreach. This ten week program places high caliber junior and senior undergraduate students from around the country with federal, state, and local public agencies to provide students with hands-on experience under the mentorship of a career professional.
