Dr. Ballendorf's research interests and publications include Spanish, German, Japanese, and American colonial periods in Micronesia; history, politics, and general social and economic development. Project have been: oral histories of the Japanese administrations in the northern Marianas and Palau as seen from the islanders' perspective. Publications include articles on the German administration in Palau, Japanese administration in Palau, and American contemporary developments. Together with colleagues, one historical dictionary has been published, and another is in preparation.
