8:30 - 9:00 Opening and Award ceremony for the winners of the Second Math Problem Solving Competition
9:00 -- 10:30 GAMES COMPETITION The teams from high school will play games against each other. They can use just sheer luck to try to win or the teams can come up with the best strategies for winning by using math and logic. The rules for the games are attached.
10:30 -- 11:00 Break and refreshments.
11:00 -- 11:45 LECTURE: HOW CAN YOU PAY WITHOUT CHANGE? When you buy some stuff with a large bill, stores often reject it due to no change. So what type of bill do you have to prepare in advance? Bunch of a dollar bill? Any better way? In this talk we discuss variants of this problem and at the end we will show you interesting card magic tricks based on the discussion.
11:45 -- 12:30 FLATLAND THE MOVIE and discussions Did you ever try to imagine what the world would look like if we only had two dimensions? Flatland: The movie is about a two-dimensional world populated by polygons and ruled by circular tyrants.
