High School Visitation
The University of Guam, Division of Mathematical Sciences initiated the High school Math class Visitation Project in Spring 2008. The goal of the project is to visit many high school math classes in Guam to present some interesting piece of mathematics and to give information on the UOG Mathematics Program. We hope the students will find the information that we would present is useful, and the visit will encourage them to include more mathematics in their college curriculum.A visiting team usually consists of two individuals, a faculty member and an undergraduate student. During the visit we present an interesting piece of mathematics that uses the current ideas that the students are studying in their math class. The undergraduate student talks about the activities that he/she has participated in. The visiting team also gives examples of the employment opportunities for undergraduate mathematics majors and presents a typical course of study for mathematics majors at The University of Guam.We could visit John F. Kennedy HS, George Washington HS, St. Paul HS, and Southern HS so far. We appreciate your invitation. If your school wants us to visit your math classes, please contact uog_math@yahoo.com
