UOG Accounting Majors and prospective majors attend the first joint Accounting Conference
 

 
UOG Accounting Majors and prospective majors attended the first joint Accounting Conference organized by the University of Guam and Guam Community College.  Funded by the Guam Society of CPAs and the AGA Guam Chapter, the conference was intended to bring our students together for collaboration and raise their awareness on current events and what employers are looking for in future accountants. Topics covered at this conference included Accounting and Budgeting, Fraud and Forensic Accounting. Other presentations included professionals sharing their experience in the corporate accounting, career pathway to CPA and the federal government.  Accounting faculty representing UOG School of Business and Public Administration were Dr. Doreen Crisostomo and Prof. Martha Suez-Sales.

SBPA to Award (25) $250 Book Scholarships
Eligibility: Registered full-time declared Major, Minor, and/or Concentration with the School of Business and Public Administration.  
 
Information:  Award will be made available as a credit/charge account under awardee’s name at the UOG Bookstore, which expires on August 31, 2013.  Notification of award to awardees will be made by March 1, 2013.  The award cannot be transferred to another person’s name.  A total of 25 individual awards are available.
 

Deadline for Application Submission:   February 22, 2013.

Please complete all sections of this form legibly (type or print if necessary).  Note: Completed application must be received by the School of Business and Public Administration Dean’s Office (Jesus & Eugenia Leon Guerrero SBPA Building, 2nd floor) in a sealed envelope (Attn: Dr. Anita Borja Enriquez, SBPA Dean), no later than:02/22/13.
 
Note:  Funding for the SBPA Book Scholarships is made possible by the SBPA Advisory Council.

February 11, 2013- PA233 Students meet Dr. Hiroshi Kakazu
Dr. Hiroshi Kakazu, the well known Okinawan Nisseologist, spoke to over 70 students in Dr. Ron McNinch's PA 233 Government Regulation of Business class. He covered many aspects of basic island economic and business structures and used case comparisons between Okinawa, Guam and Hawaii as examples. In the question and answer phase. Dr. Kakazu suggested that the best way Guam could improve its economic standing and tourism markets would be to develop local resources as much as possible. The students greatly enjoyed this presentation.

June 22, 2012 - Buy Local Campaign at Chamorro Village Launches
From June 22nd to July 18th, residents will be encouraged to support participating Buy Local Guam Businesses and save their receipts. On July 18th, the community will be invited to the Chamorro Village Buy Local Night for local food, shopping, and entertainment. They will have an opportunity to turn in their saved receipts and claim prizes from local businesses that support the Buy Local movement.
The campaign’s objective is to promote thinking and buying local by supporting the Guam Product Seal program participants, Chamorro Village tenants and vendors, and BuyLocalGuam businesses.
 
This campaign is part of an initiative funded by the U.S. Department of Interior's Office of Insular Affairs through the UOG Pacific Center for Economic Initiatives, in partnership with GEDA, Guam Chamber of Commerce and supported by Guam SBDC, Dept. of Chamorro Affairs, and UOG Junior Accountants Society.

June 28, 2011 - Procurement in Business and Government Lecture at UOG

Steven L. Schooner, the Nash & Cibinic Professor of Government Procurement Law and Co-Director of the Government Procurement Law Program at George Washington University will present "Procurement in Business and Government"

during the UOG School of Business and Public Administration speaker series on Tuesday, June 28 at 10:30 a.m. The presentation will be held in the IT&E Lecture Hall, Jesus & Eugenia Leon Guerrero Business and Public Administration Building on the University of Guam Campus. The lecture is free of charge and open to the public.
 

Professor Schooner's presentation focuses on private business and public administration procurement processes, the benefits of a procurement institute for Guam, professionalism in procurement, procurement curriculum, and information about procurement careers. February 11, 2011 - International Conference on Business, Economics and Information Technology

The University of Guam, Penn State Altoona, and Nagoya University host the International Conference on Business, Economics and Information Technology February 28 – March 1 at the Outrigger Hotel in Tumon.
 

The conference features presentations and case studies by scholars and graduate students from Guam, Japan, the Philippines, Vietnam and a variety of U.S. states including Nevada, Illinois, and Pennsylvania.

The keynote speaker is Gerry Perez, general manager of the Guam Visitors Bureau, who will give a presentation entitled International Business and Commerce in the New Global Paradigm.
The deadline to register for the conference is February 21st
