October 31,2010 ACEI Holds October fest "BooVille"
Every year, the Association for Childhood Education International (or ACEI) holds their island-wide October fest for Guam's children, their families, relatives, and friends. This year's event was titled "Come to BooVille If You Dare!" The event was sponsored by UOG-ACEI, SOE, and the Early Childhood Program. All Early Childhood students and ACEI members participated in BooVille. Additionally, volunteer help was received courtesy of Simon Sanchez High School, the National Honor Society, students from the Notre Dame High School in Talofofo, and the Guam Army National Guard. Approximately 150 attended this year's October fest. Activities and facilities for the event's participants included painting and craft centers, mini jumper, rock wall climbing, a picture booth, a music room, face painting, cupcake decorating, storytelling, and shaved ice and food. A decorating contest was also held amongst the rooms, with Mrs. Quejado's class (Solving Discipline Problems) in face painting winning first place with their theme "Super City," which featured super heroes. Tied for second place were Prof. Wessling's class with "Crafville" and Dr. Jackson's ED 251 class with "Snap Shot Street." The first-prize winners received $100, and each second-prize-winning class received $65, all courtesy of ACEI.
