I am a proud graduate of the UOG’s Teaching Physical Education PK-12 program. The program definitely built a solid foundation for me to do well so far in my young career. Although the program was intense and challenging, it was also very interesting and enjoyable. The program combined theory and experiential learning with has made me more knowledgeable in my content, effective in my communication, and reflective in my decision making. I received a sound education from many inspiring professors and mentors who were excellent role models and great advocates for education, health, and physical fitness. I also met and worked with many different people. A lot of my friends now are the people I met at the University. I chose this degree because I knew it would qualify me to be a certified Health and Physical Education teacher and also because it has opened many other career opportunities such as being a coach, trainer, and camp counselor. As a second year Health teacher at Benevente Middle School, I recommend the Teaching Physical Education PK-12 program at UOG to any aspiring teachers who have an interest in health and physical education.

"I have always wanted to promote healthy choices and implement physical activity as a daily routine to young people. Graduating from the University of Guam HPERD Program gave me the opportunity to learn how to do so professionally. While being under the program I was able to find strengths and weaknesses as an educator and as a person. I can honestly say that this was one of the best challenges of my life, however it has made me the passionate and hardworking person I am today. It has also allowed me to work with fellow educators with whom I keep in close contact with to this day, my second family. I have been teaching for about a year now at FBLG Middle School and I continue to be a student within this profession, continuously learning how to be a better educator. It has been and still is an enjoyable profession working with the youth and being able to spread my seeds of knowledge.”
