The University of Guam in conjunction with the ServeGuam! Commission opened Guam’s first volunteer center on August 28, 2008. Many local dignitaries from the military, legislature, and volunteer organizations were present to witness the ribbon cutting ceremony. UOG President Dr. Robert Underwood was present to welcome guests to the university. Keynote speakers included Navy Captain Wynn and General Goldhorn from the Guam Army National Guard.
A Proclamation from the Governor’s Office and a Legislative Resolution from the 29th Guam Legislature were presented at the ceremony as well. Local residents are now able to register as volunteers at the Guam Volunteer Center in the rotunda area of the Student Center at the University of Guam.
Business and non-profit organizations can become active volunteers as well.
