The Guam Honor Society for Nurses (GHSN) recently held its first induction ceremony at the College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences Lecture Hall on the University of Guam campus on Saturday, May 31, 2014. GHSN is the first honor society for nurses in Guam and was organized in February 2013 by a group of Guam’s nurse leaders and scholars, as well nursing students with strong support from the University of Guam.
GHSN is endorsed by Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) which is the only international nursing honor society worldwide and is a global community of nurse leaders with members belonging to 500 chapters in 90 countries. Through this network, members lead in using knowledge, scholarship, service and learning to improve the health of the world’s people. GHSN hopes to establish a Sigma Theta Tau International Chapter in the Marianas.
The mission of the Guam Honor Society of Nursing is to support the learning, knowledge and professional development of nurses committed to making a difference in health in Guam and Micronesia.
The vision of the Guam Honor Society of Nursing is to create a community of nurses who lead in using knowledge, scholarship, service and learning to improve the health of the islands people.
