UOG to Graduate 302, Spring Commencement on May 25
Commencement Features Keynote Speaker Palau President Tommy Remengesau, Jr.
The University of Guam Spring 2014 Commencement Ceremonies will recognize 302 prospective graduates, one the largest graduating classes in a single Commencement since UOG established Fall and Spring ceremonies in 1999. Combined with the graduates from Fall 2013, UOG will have an expected 534 graduates for Academic Year 2013-2014, making it one of the largest graduating classes in University history.
Of the graduates, 47 will receive graduate degrees and 255 will receive undergraduate degrees. Spring 2014 Commencement Ceremonies will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, 2014 in the UOG Field House.
The Commencement Ceremonies will feature keynote speaker Tommy Remengesau, Jr., President of the Republic of Palau. Remengesau is the eighth President of the Republic of Palau and the first Palauan to be elected as President three times. He was first elected as President in 2000 and was re-elected in 2004. Constitutionally limited to two consecutive presidential terms, Remengesau was elected in 2008 as a Senator in the Palau National Congress (the Olbiil Era Kelulau) where he served until his election as President again in 2012.
The University will also be conferring an honorary Master of Micronesian Traditional Knowledge to Mr. Candido Babauta Taman for his lifetime of work promoting the music, languages and cultures of the Marianas and Micronesia.
