In celebration of the University of Guam's 60th Anniversary, the month of June casts the spotlight on the College of Natural and Applied Sciences (CNAS), which will be hosting several community events:
Eye of Science: Photographic Exhibition - **POSTPONED**
The Eye of Science: Photographic Exhibition has been postponed due to the closure of its original venue. The event has been rescheduled for August 17, 2012 and will now be held at the agriculture and Life Sciences Building on the UOG campus. Protecting and Preserving Guam's Rare Plants Workshop - June 23, 9:00am Guam Plant Extinction Prevention Program (GPEPP) at the College of Natural and Applied Sciences will be conducting a workshop on “Protecting and Preserving Guam’s Rare Plants” on Saturday, June 23, at 9:00am. in Room 124 at the Agriculture and Life Sciences, UOG. Topics include a brief history of GPEPP, current and future GPEPP activities, propagule collection and handling, and a field work demonstration. Marianas Grazing and Livestock Academy - June 26-28, 2012, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm Marianas Grazing and Livestock Management Academy is an educational opportunity provided by the University of Hawaii and the University of the Virgin Islands in cooperation with the Northern Marianas College and the University of Guam. It is designed to help livestock producer and land managers of all levels of experience become better equipped to manage the animals and resources under their care. The program will provide classroom instruction and field experience in sustainable grazing and livestock management practices. The workshop will take place from June 26-28, 2012, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. at the University of Guam College of Agriculture & Life Science Building, Conference Room 104 and is offered free of charge. Agriculture and Natural Resources Open House - June 27 to 29, 2012 from 3pm to 4:30pm each day The University of Guam Agriculture and Natural Resources (ANR) unit of UOG Cooperative Extension Service will be holding an open house on Wednesday to Friday, June 27 to 29, 2012, from 3pm to 4:30pm each day in room 105 of the Agriculture and Life Science building on the University of Guam campus. Topics include plant diagnostics; urban farming and planning; and animal husbandry and feed. ANR faculty and field agents will be on hand to provide information on ANR extension activities and to answer agricultural related questions. Welcome Home Garden Project - Saturday, June 30, 2012, from 9am to 1pm The 4-H and Youth Program of the University of Guam Cooperative Extension Service, a participating state partner of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) sponsored Military, Child and Youth program, is sponsoring a “Welcome Home Garden Project” on the University campus. for veterans, service members and their families. The Welcome Home Garden Project takes place on Saturday, June 30, 2012, from 9am to 1pm, at the garden yard of House 1, Dean’s Circle, UOG campus.
