Matson Pledges $100K to UOG's Capital Campaign

Matson Pledges $100K to UOG’s Capital Campaign Mangilao, Guam – Matthew Cox, CEO and President of Matson Navigation Company, Inc. (Matson), Vic Angoco, Senior Vice President of Matson’s Pacific operations, and other Matson executives committed $100,000.00 to UOG’s 60th Anniversary Capital Campaign today at 2:00 p.m., at the UOG School of Business and Public Administration Dean’s Conference Room. The representatives who accepted Matson’s donation include UOG President Robert A. Underwood, UOG Endowment Foundation Executive Director Mark Mendiola, members of the UOG Board of Regents and the UOG Endowment Foundation Board.
“We are very proud to present this $100,000 contribution from the Matson Foundation to the University of Guam in recognition of its 60th Anniversary celebration,” said Mr. Angoco. “It represents a multi-year commitment by Matson in supporting the University’s capital campaign to expand the campus and continue to develop a state-of-the-art learning environment for current and future students in the Western Pacific.
“We are very heartened by the fact that UOG is the largest recipient of Matson since the company has come to our region in 1996,” said President Underwood. “We are very grateful, and this gift will inspire many others to step up."
“Investing in quality education benefits everyone here in Guam, as well as the region, and will ensure we will remain a world-class research center in the 21st century,” Mr. Angoco said.
Through their donation, Matson will be acknowledged as a “21st-Century Visionary” in the Triton Developers program, a fundraising strategy designed to attract different levels of support which can be spread over five years of the capital campaign.
