UOG GREEN TO CELEBRATE AMERICA RECYCLES DAY
(Mangilao, GU) – On Thursday November 15 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, UOG Green and the UOG Center for Island Sustainability (CIS) will celebrate America Recycles Day on the UOG campus.
As the place “where America’s day begins,” Guam will be the first to celebrate the nation’s day dedicated to recycling awareness and action. UOG Green and CIS will be hosting a fun day full of activities and information on “going green” and recycling.
Being a small island, Guam faces some great difficulties with its trash production and recycling efforts. UOG Green and CIS want to spread the word about the benefits of recycling and how it can help Guam as well as the rest of the world. “We want to be sure that our community is fully educated on the topic and on board with recycling since we are one of the main education hubs on island,” says UOG Sustainability Coordinator Elvie Tyler. “It is never too late to learn about sustainability and how to go green.”
The event will be held in the courtyard between the School of Business and Public Administration building and the RFK Library on the University of Guam Campus on Thursday November 15 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. There will be games, prizes, a photo booth, and a chance to take a recycling pledge to help put Guam on the recycling map! The public is welcome to attend and participate.
