UOG Faculty Recital, Avant-Guam, on November 25
For Immediate Release November 19, 2012 For more information contact: Jeffrey Meyer UOG Music Professor jmeyer@uguam.uog.edu UOG Faculty Recital, Avant-Guam, on November 25 The University of Guam College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Faculty will be hosting a recital of contemporary music and poetry entitled “Avant-Guam” at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 25, 2012 in the UOG Fine Arts Theater. The recital will feature UOG faculty members Stephen Bednarzyk (piano), P.K. Harmon (poetry), and Jeffrey Meyer (tuba) peforming works by Paul Hindemith, Philip Glass, Allen Ginsberg, George Crumb, Krzysztof Penderecki, and others. The recital will consist of poetry recitation and music for solo piano, solo tuba, tuba and piano, tuba and electronics, and solo electronics. Admission is free and all are welcome to attend. Stephen Bednarzyk is a music professor, an accomplished clarinetist and pianist, and director of the Guam Symphony Society. P.K. Harmon is a writing professor, editor of Storyboard, and recently published a book of poetry, What Island (winner of the 2011 First Book Contest in Poetry from Serving House Books and Fairleigh Dickinson University). Jeffrey Meyer is a music professor, professional tuba player, and director of the UOG Jazz Band.
