UOG PCEI to Unveil First Historic Hagåtña Corridor

The University of Guam’s Pacific Center for Economic Initiatives (UOG PCEI), in collaboration with the Guam Preservation Trust, will be unveiling the first historic Hagåtña corridor, “San IgnacioBarrio,” featuring the site of the San Antonio Bridge (Tollai Acho).  The event will take place at the Historic Lujan House (Guam Preservation Trust Office, 157 Padre Palomo Street, Hagåtña) on Thursday, December 27, 2012, at 3:00 p.m.

The unveiling of this historic corridor brings attention to downtown Hagåtña’s unique history, with the aim that a new focus on Hagåtña will bring back the vitality the village once had.
Although it may not have the typical downtown atmosphere, the Hagåtña corridor is Guam’s “Main Street.”  By bringing attention to the San Antonio Bridge, and later to other feature sites in Hagåtña, residents and visitors will have a greater understanding of the history and culture of Hagåtña as well as Guam.

This project is supported with funding from the Economic Development Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce.  For more information, call Eileen Agahan at 735-2501 or email eagahan@uguam.uog.edu.
