MATH DAY

"Math Day" is organized by the Division of Mathematical Sciences of the Colleges of Natural and Applied Sciences of the University of Guam. The purpose of this event is to encourage young people to study mathematics, and to develop more extensive cooperation with high schools.  If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact gbadowski@uguam.uog.edu.

MATH COLLOQUIUM

The Challenges in Mathematics Colloquium Lecture Series is organized by the Division of Mathematical Sciences of the Colleges of Natural and Applied Sciences of the University of Guam. It is usually held at 3:30 – 4:20 p.m. on the 4th Friday of every month during the semester. Our location is at the Division of Mathematical Sciences in Science Building Room 120 next to the Health-Science Building. Our intention is to introduce a wider audience of those who are interested in mathematical challenges into state-of-the-art mathematical theories, puzzles and open problems. We invite students, colleagues working in any area of science and everybody who wants to learn more about mathematics in an accessible and popular setting.

Everybody is welcome!


MATH CONTEST

The University of Guam Division of Mathematical Sciences launched the annual math contest, which was held each month from December 2012 through April 2013.

Winners will be announced each month. Overall winners will be announced in May 4, at the beginning of Math Day.
 
 We accept email submission only. Submissions must include the words "Math Contest" in the subject line of the email. In the body of the email, please include your name, mailing address, school and grade

Winners for 2012
 Kevin Cho, Harvest Christian Academy, and Yibei Li, Stevenson School, CA, tied for the first place. Winners were recognized during the 5th Math Day, which was held on April 14 at OutRigger Resort Guam. Other winners include:
 Second place - John Kim, Harvest Christian Academy

 Christopher Cho, Harvest Christian Academy, and Kevin Cho, Harvest Christian Academy, tied for the first place. Winners were recognized during Mathematics Day, which was held April 30 at UOG. Other winners include:

 Anran Li, St. John's School won the first place. Winners were recognized during Mathematics Day, which was held May 1 at UOG. Other winners include:

 Winners for 2009
 Renwu Zheng, John F. Kennedy High School, and Anran Li, St. John's School, tied for first place. The contest was held monthly from Oct 2008 to Feb 2009. Winners were recognized during Mathematics Day, which was held April 18 at UOG. Other winners include:
 Second place - Christopher Cho, Harvest Christian Academy.
 Third place - Phoebe Zhang, St. John's School; Thomas Aguilo, UOG; and John Kim, Harvest Christian Academy.
