Posted: December 02, 2020, 11:55Campus Network Services Update
December 02, 2020, 11:55
Håfa Adai UOG Community,
Over the last few weeks, the Office of Information Technology (OIT) has been working to restore campus web services. The recovery effort has been cautiously slow to ensure that that no systems will be exposed to another malware attack.
With the end of the semester approaching and registration for Fañomnåkan 2021 / Tinalo' Intersession starting next week, OIT plans to have vital services such as WebAdvisor, CollegeNet, and UIWeb restored very soon with restoration of other services coming over the next few weeks.
UOG is evaluating IT security protocols to strengthen and protect against future attacks and is planning further training for students and employees on recognizing malware and general information security.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this recovery period. Status updates will be posted on this webpage: https://www.uog.edu/it/service-status.
If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please contact Manny Hechanova, Interim CIO, at mannyh@triton.uog.edu.
For assistance, contact the OIT Helpdesk at help@triton.uog.edu.

Remote workers are being assisted to ensure that their computers satisfy our recent security requirements for updated operating systems and anti-virus software.
Students seeking academic data, please consult with their respective major Dean's office. The administrative staff can assist with these requests.
We are thankful for the patience and understanding offered by the campus community.

Malware Discovery and Quarantine
October 15, 2020, 17:44
Håfa Adai UOG Community,
On October 12, officials discovered that the UOG network had been attacked with malware. It is suspected that a user inadvertently downloaded the malware after receiving a phishing email.
The UOG Office of Information Technology is assessing the severity of the attack, but at this time, it has been determined that no confidential information was compromised.
Some UOG network services have been temporarily affected including: CashNet, DoceScan, WebAdvisor, Student Self-Service (Financial Aid), and Etrieve. Services not affected and operating normally are GoTriton and Triton Emails services, Office 365, and Moodle.
For Moodle users, if you are experiencing login problems using your primary credentials, please login using the "MS Office 365 Login" button located on the Moodle homepage at https://moodle.uog.edu. When prompted, please enter your email address credentials to login.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. We are working diligently to restore our services and will provide updates when available.
As a reminder, do not click on unknown links or download attachments from suspicious emails, and do not provide personal information over email. If you receive a suspicious email, please report these to the Office of Information Technology at iso@triton.uog.edu.
