In recognition of the 500th anniversary of Micronesia's first recorded contact with Westerners, the Micronesian Area Research Center is collaborating on a lecture series with the National Historical Commission of the Philippines. The series will focus on the shared connections between the Philippines, Guam and the Marianas, and Micronesia. 

The series will include the following presentations:
  • Oct. 13 @ 3 p.m. - "CHamoru-Filipino Relationships Over Three Centuries" by Dr. Robert Underwood
  • Oct. 27 - "Ancient Archaeology Comparisons of the Philippines and Marianas Evidence" by Dr. Mike Carson 
  • Nov. 3 - "For the Greater Good? The Use of Anthropology in the Philippines and Micronesia by the U.S. Administration" by Dr. Kelly Marsh Taitano
