University of Guam alumna Sarah Taitano blends art, culture, and care through More Art x Less War, a Pacific Islander lifestyle brand rooted in mixed media, indigenous identity, and social justice. Drawing from her background in social work and mental health advocacy, Taitano uses creativity as a form of healing, connection, and purposeful change.
Dr. Tricia Lizama of the University of Guam reflects on her lifelong connection to åmot, traditional CHamoru medicine, and how it shapes her work as a social worker, educator, and cultural advocate. Through teaching, research, and collaboration with traditional healers, Lizama helps preserve indigenous knowledge and integrate living practices of care into higher education.
UOG Press project manager and alumna Cabrini Palomo shares her lifelong connection to the ocean, her journey into CHamoru fishing traditions, and how culture, family, and learning continue to shape her writing, heritage work, and future. From childhood memories in Inalåhan to teaching younger generations, Palomo reconnects with what continually “keeps calling.”
