DPHSS Guidance: Be Proactive, Take Action to Protect Yourself and Your Family

As the number of cases grow in Guam, the number of close contacts requiring quarantine multiplies. The Department of Public Health and Social Services is working non-stop to contact all cases.

DPHSS advises that if you suspect you were a close contact to a confirmed case, start your own self-quarantine. Do not wait to be notified by department staff. Stay home and distance yourself from others in your household for 14 days from the exposure. If you develop symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough, shortness of breath, loss of smell and/or taste), isolate yourself in a separate bedroom and call your healthcare provider or the medical triage hotline at 311.

The steps to take when someone at home is sick can be found at: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/disinfecting-your-home.html

For inquiries on COVID-19, contact 311 through a local number, or call the Joint Information Center at (671) 478-0208/09/10.
