UOG Tritons And KFC Bombers Advance To Championship Game On Sunday In The TMBL
The University of Guam Men's Basketball Team advanced on Saturday afternoon in the UOG Calvo Field House to the Championship Game
of the Triton Men's Basketball League with a 108-95 win over the Harper Valley Kennel
Toothfaries.
The game was a close affair in the first half, with neither team building a large
lead at any time. The Tritons were up 29-27 at the end of the first quarter and the
HVK Toothfaries were up 50-47 at half-time.
But the Tritons came out on fire in the 2nd half, led by Ryan Nangauta who scored
the first 8 points of the 3rd period to take UOG from 3 points down to 5 points up
in the game and for the most part, the UOG team never looked back, out scoring the
Toothfaries 29-9 in the 3rd period to take a 76-59 lead and control of the game.
The teams exchanged baskets for most of the fourth quarter, with UOG clearing the
bench for the last 5 minutes and winning the game, 108-95.
UOG was led by Blake Jenkins with 24 points and 8 rebounds while Nangauta added 22
points for the game. Kirk Long for the Toothfaries scored 25 points to lead all scorers.
UOG is now 11-0 for TMBL and have won 19 straight games for the Fanuchånan (Fall) of 2017. The Toothfaries finished 6-6 for the TMBL season.
