UOG Wins First Game of Triton Men’s Basketball League

The University of Guam Triton Men's Basketball Team defeated the KFC Bombers in a hard fought battle 104-91 as the Bombers came to the UOG Calvo Field House with a replenished roster of players from the previous competition, the Guam Basketball Challenge in September.

The teams battled early as the lead changed 10 times with four ties, and the Bombers were up 26-21 after the first quarter. UOG grabbed a 2 point lead going into half-time 47-45.

In the 2nd half, the Tritons pulled away in the 3rd quarter to lead 74-65 and pushed their lead up to 22 points in the 4th quarter and cleared their bench for the final 3 minutes of the game to reach the final score of 104-91.

Blake Jenkins led the Tritons with 23 points and had several power dunks and blocked shots. Ryan Nangauta scored 20 points, Billy Bilger added 17, AJ Brown had 15 points and 9 rebounds, and Geno Anderson 13.

In the opening game of the night, the UOG Recreation Department Trident Men’s Basketball Club opened to an 18-0 run over the Harper Valley Kennel Toothfaries only to lose 101-67 by the end of the game.

Elias David led the Trident MBC team with 19 points and 14 rebounds, while Jason Seid scored 14 points, and Jorge Piolo added 10 points and 10 rebounds. James Stake of the HVK Toothfaries would lead all scorers with 27 points.
