The University of Guam Women's Soccer Team defeated FC Familia 5-0 in the opening round of the Guam Football Association's Bud Light D2 Women's League Playoffs at the GFA National Training Center on Sunday afternoon.

The Lady Tritons scored early in the match, as the D2 Golden Boot winner, Elisha Benavente, scored the opening goal for UOG with a shot from just a few feet away from the goal that bounced off the goalkeeper and into the goal. Benavente would score a 2nd goal for the Tritons on a penalty kick later in the match.

UOG would score 4 goals in the first half while FC Familia would have a very hard time dealing with the UOG speed and athleticism. FC Familia found it difficult crossing midfield to get a shot away as the Tritons controlled the match and kept the ball on their side of the field.

The 2nd half was somewhat uninspired for both teams, as UOG added one goal and FC Familia did get off a few shots, but other wise, UOG dominated the half again and kept the ball in the midfield area or on their side of the field.

Jestyne Sablan, Ariya Cruz and Aiesha Castro all added goals for UOG in the match.

The Lady Tritons are now 4-1 on the season and face Team Slay in the finals of the League Championship next Sunday at 5:15 p.m. at the GFA National Training Center. Team Slay defeated the Tritons earlier in the season, 3-1, but the same thing happened last year, as Team Slay defeated UOG in the regular season but the Tritons defeated Team Slay in the Championship match, 2-1.
