UOG Men's Basketball Scores Victory Over The MacTech Nerds in TMBL
The University of Guam Men's Basketball Team won the game 99-82 against the MacTech Nerds at the UOG Calvo Field House.
The Tritons playing without center Blake Jenkins who was out with a knee injury started off pretty well, going out to an early 12-14 point lead as they were ahead 26-12 after the first period, and managed to lead 53-39 at half-time but UOG was finding points harder to score with no presence in the middle of the court.
MacTech cut the UOG lead to 6 points in the 3rd quarter as they outscored the Tritons 23-16 in the period. MacTech also cut the lead down to 3 points early in the 4th quarter, but the Tritons pushed the "Go" button to score and went on to a 17 point lead for their biggest lead of the game as the contest ended with the score 99-82.
Demadjeo Simon and Anthony Brown scored 22 each for the Tritons and Brown brought down 14 rebounds. UOG Assistant Basketball Coach, Stephen Yates, who plays for MacTech, led all scorers 25 points for the Nerds.
UOG is now 9-0 in the TMBL and has won 17 straight games in the Fanuchånan (Fall) of 2017. MacTech falls to 3-7 and will be the #5 Seed in the TMVL Championship starting Thursday night.
UOG finishes the season on Tuesday against the HVK Toothfaries who defeated the MVPs on Sunday to run their record to 5-4 in the league. Game time is 8:00 p.m. in the UOG Calvo Field House.
