UOG Men's Basketball Club Team Opens New Season with Game Against GCC
The University of Guam Recreation Department Trident Men's Basketball Club opens their
Guam Men's College Basketball League season on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. in the UOG Calvo
Field House against Guam Community College.
The Tridents struggled through the Triton Men's Basketball League during the fall, going 0-11 in the very tough TMBL that had the best four men's basketball club teams on the island but the Tridents finished 2nd in last year's College League, going 3-5 overall in the league. The Tridents and GCC split regular season games last season with the Tridents winning 80-54 and losing to GCC 84-70.
The Tridents did score over 100 points 3 times in the TMBL in the fall, scoring 116 points in one game.
GCC and HBBC were in the GMCBL last year, while the Pacific Islands University "Tide" joins the league for the first time. GCC and HBBC finished last season with 2-5 records as the UOG Varsity was undefeated, but the UOG Club, GCC and HBBC all finished 2-4 in the regular season, and the Tritons defeated GCC in one semi-finals while the Tridents defeated HBBC in the other semi-final. The Tritons defeated the Tridents for the Championship.
The GMCBL will be splitting games with the Trident Women's Basketball League on Saturday, as the Lady Tridents Women's Basketball Club play at noon on Saturday against the Crusader Basketball Club. The UOG Tritons plays HBBC at 2:00 p.m., another TWBL game at 4:00 p.m. featuring GCC Women's Team Vs Fustsa Basketball Club, and then the Trident Men's Basketball Club plays the final game of the day at 6:00 p.m. against GCC Men's Basketball Team. All games are in the UOG Calvo Field House and all games are free to watch.
