Students from the University of Guam chapter of the American Medical Student Association participated in this year’s Homeless Outreach event held in October.

Hosted by the University of Santo Tomas Alumni Organization of Guam and the Guam Homeless Coalition’s Healthcare Committee, the Homeless Outreach brought together medical and social service professionals and volunteers from around the island to bring free healthcare to Guam homeless population.

About 65 UOG students—including nursing, health science, biology, and social work majors—participated that day, shadowing medical professionals, helping with immunizations, and organizing and coordinating workflow. Six UOG faculty members from the UOG School of Health also volunteered their expertise during the outreach event, which saw about 70 clients primarily from local shelters.
