UOG Trident Club Teams Drop Two Games On Saturday
The University of Guam Recreation Department Trident Women’s Basketball Club team
dug a deep hole on Saturday to the Crusaders Basketball Club and could never dig themselves
quite out of the darkness but did make the opening game of the Trident Women’s Basketball
League close at the end but still lost 43-37.
The Trident Women’s Club Team fell behind 19-3 after the first quarter but battled
back in the 2nd 10 minute period to be behind 27-19 at half-time with some momentum
to go into the 2nd half. After the third period, the Tridents were behind 37-26 but
the young UOG squad came closed in the fourth period, pulling to within 4 points twice
in the final 10 minutes, but ended up losing 43-37 to the Crusaders.
Jonah Asako led UOG with 13 points, while Via Defant and Ennis Momoko each scored
10 points each for the Tridents.
The Trident WBC plays again on Monday, January 29 at 6:15 p.m. in the UOG Calvo Field
House against the Fuetsa Basketball Club. Fuetsa defeated the GCC women’s team on
Saturday, 70-48. In the 2nd game on Monday night, the Crusaders BC takes on the Royal
                                 Basketball Club at 8:00 p.m.
The UOG Recreation Department Trident Men's Basketball Club had high expectations
for the Guam Men's College Basketball League second season but dropped their opening
game to the Guam Community College team 91-80 on Saturday night in the UOG Calvo Field
                                 House.
The Tridents finished second in the GMCBL Championship last season with a 3-5 record
and after scoring 100 points 3 times late in the Triton Men's Basketball League in
the fall, the Tridents felt they could outscore most of the competition in the College
League, but that didn't happen on Saturday night in the UOG Calvo Field House.
The Tridents were led by Jason Seid with 24 points and C. Abraham with 18 points.

The Tridents next take on the UOG Tritons at 8:00 p.m. on Friday night, February 2
in the UOG Calvo Field House. The Tritons opened their defense of the GMCBL Championship
with a 126-58 victory over Harvest Baptist Bible College yesterday.
