UOG Women’s Trident Basketball Club Drops Game To GCC

A balanced Guam Community College Women’s Basketball Team defeated the University of Guam Recreation Department Trident Women’s Basketball Club 62-26 on Thursday night at the UOG Calvo Field House in the Trident Women’s Basketball League.

On paper, the game should have be close, as both teams lost to the league leading Fuetsa Basketball Club by about the same score, but the Trident WBC offense was not in sync on Thursday night and struggled the whole game to score, while GCC got offense from four players in double figures. The Tridents in their first two games scored 37 points in each game, but could only manage 26 on Thursday night.University of Guam

The game was close in the first quarter, as GCC was up 13-7 after the first 10 minutes, but in the 2nd quarter, GCC scored 22 points while the Tridents could only muster 5 points and GCC took a 35-12 lead at half-time and cruised on to a 62-26 win.

Justine Yeban lead UOG with 10 points and 13 rebounds whole J. Gustilo and E. Takasy scored 12 points each for GCC and C. Pardillo and S. Amor added 10 each.

The Trident WBC is now 0-3 on the season and play the Royal Basketball Club on Monday, February 5 in the UOG Calvo Field House at 8:00pm to finish the first half of the season. GCC is 1-1 on the season and face the Royal Basketball Club on Saturday, February 3 at 2:00 p.m.

In the first game of the night, the league leading Fuetsa Basketball Club defeated the Royal Basketball Club 54-50 in a tight game that was not decided until the final minute. Fuetsa is now 3-0 in the league while the Royals dropped to 1-1.
