HOF Game 1

The University of Guam Triton Athletics Department will sponsor a Triton Men’s Basketball League from late January to the first Sunday of March. This will be the second Triton Men’s Basketball League. The UOG Tritons won the first version of this league in Fanuchånan 2017 with a 12-0 record in the six-team league.

This season’s version of the league will feature four teams, all very familiar to the Tritons. Two of the teams were in the Bombers Basketball League in the fanuchånan semester, in which UOG had a 1-7 record. The Happy Valley Kenne Bulldogs defeated the Tritons twice last semester, while the MacTech Nerds went 2-1 against UOG, but all three games were close.

The fourth team is the Guam Community College team, which UOG has played in the Guam Men’s College Basketball League over the past three seasons. The Tritons has an overall 6-0 record against GCC.

This is the normal time of the year for the Guam Men's Basketball League, but Harvest Baptist Bible College and Pacific Islands University could not play this year, so UOG opted to play a Triton League instead.

Each team will play a six-game regular season and then have a single elimination championship tournament. All games will follow FIBA rules and will be played at the UOG Calvo Field House. Admission is free to the public.

The league will get off to a fast start, with each team getting four games in the first two weeks.

UOG will open the season against Guam Community College at 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 28, in the Calvo Field House.

This league should serve as a warm-up for the Tritons to enter the Guam Basketball League that is supposed to return to the court in late February or early March.
