The University of Guam Women's Soccer Team defeated Venue Slay 2-0 on Nov. 25 in the Guam Football Association's Bud Light Amateur Women's League at the GFA National Training Center.

The Venue Slay came into the game as the defending champion of the GFA D2 League, while the Lady Tritons were two-time champions of the D2 League. Both teams were 2-2 against each other over the past two years.

The Venue Slay controlled the pace of the match for the most part, and for the first time this season, UOG was forced into its own territory most of the evening to defend against the Slay offense. The Tritons were able to counter attack with their "fast-break offense," but it was much reduced in this game.

Ariya Cruz was able to break through the Slay defense late in the first half to score the Tritons first goal, giving UOG a 1-0 lead at half-time.

The second half was much of the same, with Venue Slay controlling the pace and even breaking past the UOG defensive line and forcing UOG goalie Tiffanie Rodriguez to make several saves from Slay shots. But Cruz scored a second goal for UOG and took most of the air out of the Slay attack and UOG went on to win 2-0.

The Lady Tritons are now 5-0-0 on the season and have taken a two-game lead in the league. Slay dropped to 3-2-0 on the season. This ends the fall schedule for UOG, and the Amateur League starts back on Jan. 20 with UOG playing the Lady Bombers. The Lady Tritons will play 10 straight Sundays in the spring schedule.
