UOG's Logan Hopkins shoots over a couple of Bombers.

The University of Guam Men's Basketball Team got 40 points from Logan Hopkins on March 19 but suffered an 85-125 loss to the Bombers in the opening game of bracket play in the March Madness Tournament on the Andersen Air Force Base at the Coral Reef Recreation Center.

The Bombers were the No. 1 seed from Pool A in the tournament, with a 4-0 record coming into bracket play. UOG was the No. 4 seed from Pool B with a 0-4 record. The double-elimination bracket play matches the teams from each pool against a team from the other pool.

The game was never close, as the Bombers led 29-16 after the first quarter and continued to build their lead each quarter, leading 57-42 at half, 91-69 after the third period, and winning 125-85 at the final buzzer.

Hopkins scored 40 for the Tritons, AJ Carlos added 17 points, and Cloyd Rosas scored 14 points.

UOG will play Guam Community College at 8:30 p.m. on March 20 in an elimination game. The loser is out of the tournament, and the winner will play again on March 21. UOG is 2-0 against GCC this year, but the games have been close, with UOG winning 94-93 and 81-72.
