UOG appoints McVey as AVP of Academic Excellence

The University of Guam has appointed Dr. Troy McVey as Assistant Vice President of Academic Excellence and Director of Graduate Studies. McVey has served as interim AVP since 2017.

McVey will coordinate activities related to demonstrating academic excellence, such as program learning assessment, academic program review, and graduate capstone projects. He will also work on faculty development, academic policy and curriculum, and student success initiatives.

McVey joined the University in 2005 as a theatre professor and has also served as the Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, and as a fellow of the Senior Vice President.

McVey earned a bachelor of fine arts from Drake University, a master of fine arts from Tulane University, and a doctor of education from the University of Southern California. McVey has published articles with UNESCO and Pacific Asia Inquiry and given presentations at national assessment and student retention conferences. McVey also serves as a member of Humanities Guåhan’s Board of Directors and has won an innovative teaching award from the Association for Theatre in Higher Education.
