In the News: UOG to conduct research on gout among CHamorus
Researchers seeking CHamorus for gout study
The University of Guam will be conducting research as part of a pilot project based out of and funded by the University of Otago in New Zealand to look at whether genetics plays a role in gout for Pacific Islanders. The study, "Following the Hyperuricaemic Trail," will gather biometric data on people of CHamoru descent with gout and without gout. Assistant Professor of Biology Frank A. Camacho is principal investigator on the study for Guam and is working with Associate Professor of Health Sciences Yvette C. Paulino. Read more in this Pacific Daily News article.
