The Trident Women’s Volleyball League held its final games of the regular season on Thursday night, determining the team standings headed into the playoff games. Guam Pro (5-1) will enter as the No. 1 seed based on overall sets won, followed by Breakthrough (5-1), the UOG Tridents (2-4), and Guam Community College (0-6).

In the Thursday night matchups, the UOG Tridents club team took a late win over Guam Community College in the final three sets with scores of 0-25, 17-25, 25-14, 25-6, and 15-11.

The Tridents forfeited the first set due to a shortage of players. With another loss in the second set, the Tridents needed to take the third set to keep the match alive.

Persha pulled through with seven straight aces taking the team to 7-0. The momentum continued with Tridents Laressa Halladay getting in some good kills to make the score 17-8, and eventually the Tridents took their first set of the match at 25-14.

Persha picked up more steam in the fourth set, making 11 straight aces against GCC for a score of 11-0 leading to a massive 25-6 win.

A fifth set determined the tiebreaker, and the Tridents kept pace, being the first to reach 15 points and secure the set and the match.

In the second game of the night, Breakthrough handed Guam Pro its first loss of the season, winning three straight sets: 25-13, 25-22, and 25-23.

The playoffs will be held on Monday, Nov. 4, with Breakthrough taking on the UOG Tridents at 6:30 p.m. and Guam Pro taking on GCC at 8:15 p.m. The winners will face off in the championship game at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12.
