Tridents fall 3-1 to Breakthrough in women’s volleyball

The University of Guam Trident Women’s Club Volleyball Team dropped a match 3-1 to team Breakthrough in the Trident Women’s Volleyball League on Thursday night in the Calvo Field House.

Breakthrough went 2-0 with wins in the first two sets of 25-17 and 25-15, but the Tridents fought back in the third set with a 25-23 victory to put the match at 2-1.

Breakthrough secured the match win in the fourth set with a solid 25-13 victory.

The Tridents club team is now 1-4 for the season while Breakthrough improves to 4-1 in league play.

In the first match of the night, league-leading Guam Pro defeated Guam Community College 3-0 (25-10, 25-13, 25-11) to improve its record to 5-0 for the season. GCC is now 0-5.

The league plays its final regular season game this Thursday starting with the Tridents playing GCC at 6:30 p.m., followed by Breakthrough challenging Guam Pro at 8:15 p.m. The semifinals will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 4. All matches are in the Calvo Field House and admission is free.
