The University of Guam chapter of Omicron Delta Epsilon, an international honor society for economics, welcomed 18 new members at a virtual induction ceremony on May 1. This marks the second induction into the UOG chapter — the Alpha Chapter of Guam — which launched last April. It now has a total of 34 members.

The induction, held via video conference due to the coronavirus pandemic, recognized its new members, which include UOG President Thomas W. Krise, two faculty members, 10 students, and five alumni. Students members must have completed 12 credit hours of economics courses, have a GPA of at least 3.2, and make the study of economics one of their major interests.

The honor society seeks to recognize high scholastic achievement in economics, to stimulate and promote student interest in all aspects and economics, and to encourage the pursuit of economic research that is relevant, ethical, and impactful to the profession and the local community.

In its first year, the UOG chapter hosted a research seminar on literature mapping and co-sponsored the School of Business & Public Administration’s 14th annual International Conference on Business, Economics, and Information Technology in March.
