The Research Corporation of the University of Guam is seeking two interns to work with Marcel Jardeleza, a Ph.D. student from Colorado State University, on a field research project this summer. 

Eligibility

  • Undergraduate student with good academic standing
  • Ability to hike through difficult terrain in all weather conditions
  • Interest in a career in science
  • Comfortable working with insects

Application Deadline: Feb. 28, 2021
Internship Dates: May 24 - July 30, 2021 (up to 30 hours per week)
Stipend: $4,200

Character of Duties

  • Use beating sheets to sample vertebrate abundance and biomass throughout the island
  • Sort and identify insect collections
  • Set up baited sticks to collect ant samples
  • Create clay caterpillar models to deploy
  • Observe flight patterns of butterflies
  • Hike through dense jungle while carrying research materials
  • Scout and set up transects and collection locations
  • Other duties as assigned
