In the News: The story behind Pedro Blas' graduation photo with a cow named 'Kao'
When UOG graduate Pedro Blas submitted his graduation photo -- of himself in a cap and gown and camouflage shorts next to a friendly looking brown cow named "Kao" -- to the Lifestyle section of the Pacific Daily News, the editor says, "We reached out to him asking -- actually, begging -- for more information."
His graduation photo, while whimsical and non-traditional, indeed had a deeper story of not only his relationship with an animal that he has cared for since middle school, but his upbringing as "someone who respects the land, the culture, and i mañaina."
