Lady Tritons open first-ever rugby tourney 0-3
The University of Guam Tritons Women’s Rugby Team opened its first matches in the history of the institution today at the UOG Rugby Field but found it tough to score and lost three matches in the opening day of the Lady Triton Women’s Rugby Sevens Tournament.
The Tritons opened the morning with a 7-0 loss to the Hybrid club team from the Southern part of Guam. It was a tough defensive struggle throughout the match as both teams were scoreless at half time, but the Hybrid broke through late in second half to score both a touch and an extra point to go up 7-0 and held off the Tritons for the final few minutes to win the match.
In the second match of the day for the UOG squad, they took on the High Performance club, made up of Guam national team members, and while the Lady Tritons battled hard, they found themselves on the short end of a 42-0 score.
In their final match of the day, the UOG squad took on the Para Todu club in the early afternoon and found it tough going, ultimately taking a 32-0 loss.
