Triton Esports Interim Coordinator John Wiglesworth opened the banquet with some key achievements from the program’s first year, noting that it:

• Welcomed 24 student-athletes  
• Participated in 14 local and regional esports competitions 
• Hosted 10 local tournaments in collaboration with Latte Esports
• Received the Collegiate Advertising Award for “Best Sports-Specific Website”
• Gained more than 500 followers on social media and nearly 100 monthly paid subscriptions on Twitch

“The Triton Esports Program has seen tremendous growth over the past year. With the support from the Office of Enrollment Management & Student Success, the Office of Information Technology, and the UOG Endowment Foundation, this volunteer-built pilot project has gone from being a novel idea to a fully implemented program within the bounds of the University,” said Ken San Nicolas, Triton Esports co-coordinator. “With one year in the books, we now look to further increase the Triton Esports footprint on campus, locally, and nationally.”

About Triton Esports

Launched in February 2020, Triton Esports is Guam’s first-ever collegiate esports program. Triton Esports exists to mold professional leaders through rigorous training, coaching, and mentorship. The program is open to UOG students and offers $500 scholarships to its student-athletes for their time and commitment.
