Lady Bombers finish Super League regular season undefeated
The Lady Bombers women’s basketball team finished the Lady Triton Super League undefeated in regular season play on Thursday night in the UOG Calvo Field House with a 78-70 victory over the BallHers team.
The game was the toughest victory of the season for the Lady Bombers, as the BallHers gave the Andersen Air Force Base team all they could handle for the first 25 minutes of the contest.
The Bombers started the night off well, leading 14-2 in the first few minutes of the first quarter, but the BallHers team came back to tie the game at 24-24 at the end of the first period. The BallHers led by Alana Salas three 3s in the 2nd quarter stayed with the Bombers and took the lead at the half-time, 40-38, the first time the Lady Bombers had trailed at half-time this season.
The game was still a battle and was tied 47-47 in the third period when the Bombers got hot and the BallHers got cold, and the Andersen team ran off 19 straight points to end the third period and have 66-47 lead entering the 4th quarter. The Bombers would run their streak to 21 points to open the 4th quarter before the BallHers would score again.
The Bombers controlled the 4th quarter until the final 3 minutes when the BallHers closed the gap again but could not get closer than 8 points and the Bombers won 78-70.
Katie Mueller scored 33 points for the Lady Bombers, including 14 points in the Bombers run in the third period. Alana Salas led the Ballhers with 27 points.
The Lady Bombers ended the regular season with an 8-0 record while the BallHers finished at 3-5. The BallHers will face the Lady Tritons of UOG on Saturday night at 7:15pm in the first round of the Lady Triton Super League playoffs. The winner of that game will play the Lady Bombers on Tuesday night, April 19th at 8;15pm in the league semi-finals.
All games are played at the UOG Calvo Field House and are streamed “Live” on the UOG Athletic Facebook page.
