The Triton Advising Center's initiative to guide students toward financial literacy throughout their higher education journey got a jumpstart over the summer with a training for the faculty and staff who will serve as student advisers.

The center hosted 23 faculty and staff members in the three-day training session from June 27-29. The training precedes the launch of a Financial Literacy Certification program for students this September. Student demand for guidance in financial matters is apparent, with 24 students attending the summer financial literacy training as well.

Led by Dr. Leila C. Kabigting, UOG associate professor of finance and TAC financial consultant, and assisted by TAC financial advising specialist Vivian Valdes, the training familiarized the participants with the financial resources available to students at UOG and also provided the faculty and staff members with advisement techniques.

The attendees each received a digital certificate of attendance.
