Triton Athletics opens search for women's volleyball coach

6/8/2022

The University of Guam Triton Athletics Department plans to bring women’s volleyball back to the court in 2022-23 academic year and, for the first time, an outdoor beach volleyball team as well.

“We had an excellent regular six-person version of a volleyball team for three years when we started the program in the fall of 2016, but we could only find a few teams to play us," said UOG Athletics Director Doug Palmer. "But now I think we can find more competition and also we can move to the beach version as well to find more matches and tournaments."

Palmer is receiving applications for a new volleyball coach to lead both programs, which will start in August.

Candidates should email a cover letter, a resumé, and names of three references by Sunday, June 12, to palmerd@triton.uog.edu. Palmer hopes to select a candidate by June 17. Only fully completed emailed applications will be accepted and moved on to the interview stage.

“I hope we have some excellent candidates apply," Palmer said, "as this will be an exciting program that will move from both the indoors to the outdoors and back again very quickly. We hope to have a beach volleyball court on campus in the near future and UOG will become the leader both in beach and regular volleyball for the island."
