Films produced by Communication and Media Program students will be featured in the 8th University of Guam Film Festival on Friday, May 5, 2023.

The public is invited and admission is free. The festival will be held in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Lecture Hall. Doors open at 6 p.m.

The festival categories are Documentary, Short Narrative, Mini- Narrative, Mockumentary, Twisted Trailer, and Mood Piece.

"We're all so excited to present this year's UOG Film Festival as we continue to highlight the talent coming from our institution's Communication and Media program,” said Tatiana Ananich, one of the student project coordinators of the film festival.

The festival is being organized by students from the CO460-Integrated Public Relations course, taught by Dr. Francis Dalisay, Associate Professor of Communication and Media.

In collaboration with the Commission on Decolonization, the festival will also be featuring submissions from high school students as part of the organization's 96-hour film competition.

The festival will offer complimentary refreshments and a chance to win raffle prizes. Local pop-up vendors will also participate.

The film festival is sponsored by DOCOMO Pacific, Fish Eye Marine Park, MD Wholesale, Kersha’s Corner, Drip Served Daily, Sadie Ann Art, Olfactory Creative, Stash Pile, Commission on Decolonization, Bank of Guam, UOG Student Government Association, and Infusion Coffee & Tea Guam.

Judges include Ruzelle Almonds, independent filmmaker; Myracle Mugol, independent filmmaker and producer; Nia Serneo, producer, Mighty Island LLC; Don Muna, independent filmmaker and Executive Producer for PBS Guam; James Davis, independent and corporate filmmaker and cinematographer.
