UOG Horizons: Knowledge for Life - We are all public health
Imagine a health care system where the patient is not just one person but an entire community where care is coordinated by a team of specialists. That is public health: the shared effort to keep our people healthy and our island safe.
In honor of public health work across the nation, the American Public Health Association celebrated National Public Health Week during the second week of April. Here on Guam, we dedicate the entire month to celebrating public health. Through Proclamation 25-62, Gov. Lourdes Leon Guerrero, Lt. Gov. Joshua Tenorio, and Director Theresa Arriola officially launched Public Health and Social Services Month on April 4. Following the proclamation, attendees witnessed the unveiling of the department’s new mobile clinic, expanding access to care for underserved areas.
